“Getting Things Done” – Take Time to Reflect

Small Business Software | Online Inventory System

In a previous articles, we talked about Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen and your use of email and getting ideas out of your head. As we start a new year, it is often a time that people reflect back on the previous year. Maybe as a small business, you are reviewing stock trends in your online inventory system. Did I buy enough of a certain product? Did we buy too much of another? Of course, you can get your inventory into order by using Stockplie to help with this, but this can also apply at a personal level as well.

In a previous post, we talked about getting all of those things you track in your head into a system. Now that you have done that you need to setup time to review your list. By doing this review on a regular schedule, it helps you gain confidence in your process. For example earlier in the week, you may have put a task on your list to call a distributor about an order. You can then take that task out of your immediate thoughts because you know you captured it on your list and you will review later. When reviewing your tasks, you can then prioritize and adjust what needs to be done.

As you can see, having a review at different levels is important to the success of your business - from your inventory trends and your personal tasks. For your personal process, this is just a brief intro and Getting Things Done (GTD) provides much more detail. As with most things, this provides some tools or guidance to get started, but you can tweak it over time.

As the new year starts, don't forget to take advantage of Stockplie to manage your inventory online!
