“Getting Things Done” by Getting Things Out of Your Head (hint: online inventory system)

In a previous article, we talked about Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen and using it to improve the use of your email inbox. One great way to get things out of your head is our new online inventory system, Stockpile.

Let's talk about how to keep improving your efficiency in other ways. When running a small business, you often have to keep track of a number of different things. Call Mr. Smith back about something. Remember to take your toolbox into the store to fix the door. Talk with someone about your website and how to improve its position in Google's search results. Order some more paper for the printer. Maybe you write some of these down on a task list and others you are trying to remember just in your head.

With GTD, it is recommended that your get all of this kind of information out of your head. By getting it out of your head and onto a list, that you regularly review, you can focus on other more important things. You are in control of when you choose to work on something and have a system for working on tasks. It also clears up some of the mental clutter you have been carrying around with you. This doesn't just apply to your business. GTD can be used by all tasks of your life - business, family and more. As the New Year approaches, maybe one of your first goals is to clear your mind of all the unnecessary clutter.

As the New Year approaches, make one of your first goals to clear your mind of all the unnecessary clutter.   Of course, Stockpile can help this goal by being a reliable system for capturing your inventory!   Go ahead, try it now and get a jump start on those resolutions.
