How can a home inventory system help me get more space?
First, the home inventory system itself can't create space. However, it can make better use of it. For example, try boxing up (and well I might add) some things you care about but never use. Then go rent a storage unit. If you go ahead and enter those things into Stockpile, then you'll know exactly what you have in storage without wasting your time plowing through taped boxes. To make life easier, label each box with a Letter. In Stockpile, you can create the location of "storage" and an area of "Box A". From there you can enter box A's contents into Stockpile item by item. Do the same thing for items belonging to Box B and so on. For items that will be stored individually, simply enter them in with no specific area so that you'll know they're out in plain site. This makes it easier to know what's in each box and allows you to fully know what's in storage. AND you get your space BACK! That's a win-win. Time and space savings all in one. The same process will also work for an outside storage shed or shelving in your garage. For the shelving example, you might want to have an area called shelf A while adding a label of Box 1 to the item upon entry into the system.

Think about it. How often do you rummage the entire contents of your home before finding that one thing you were looking for?
