Customer Attraction

Several of the solutions that we’ve discussed as part of our series on technology and your small business have components designed to help you attract new customers. Today, we’re going to talk a little bit more about how you can use technology to grow your business.  Heck, most all we use to grow usage for our free inventory software relies on technology focused on small business operations.

Word of mouth has long been a marketing staple. There is nothing quite like the recommendation of someone you trust to convince you to try a new product or service. Traditionally, the problem with word of mouth advertising was its limited reach. How many people are you really going to tell about a product or service that you like? Even if you loved something you aren’t likely to call up everyone you know to promote it. Most commonly, you would rave to those closest to you and only spread the word to someone else who specifically asked for a recommendation for the same product or service. Great way to gain one or two new customers but not a high impact promotion...until now. Thanks to technology your loyal customers can share their endorsement of your product or service with dozens and dozens of their friends and acquaintances. How? They can like you on Facebook (or better yet, post about your business on Facebook), they can tweet their satisfaction on Twitter. They can share you on Google+. It’s fast, it’s easy and it doesn’t cost anything to have your customers talk about you. Offering a discount or other incentive can really encourage your customers to share about you online.  This is why we made our free inventory software, well, FREE!

You don’t have to rely on your current customers to promote you on social media. Create a Facebook page. Tweet updates and promotions for your business. Use Google+ to let potential customers know what’s going on with your business. All of these are low cost options and a great way to reach a large audience. Have a web page? Keep potential and current customers coming back by writing a blog. The constant introduction of new content gives them a reason to revisit your site time and time again.

Once you’ve got their attention, how do you convince them to give you a try? Offer them a special promotion or other incentive to motivate them. Everyone likes to feel like they are getting a good deal. Discounts and freebies are great motivators. Can’t afford to do that? Host a special event with snacks or entertainment to encourage people to stop by.

As we mentioned before, many of the solutions that we discussed in our previous posts have components to help with customer attraction. If you have that option, use it. Just because you chose a software for another purpose doesn’t mean you shouldn’t capitalize on all that it can do for your small business. Pay close attention to what other functionality is available with any solution that you choose. Your goal may have been customer retention or gamification but if they are also offering a way to gain new customers - take it!

There are no islands in your business. Every function impacts other areas of your business in one way or another. Take inventory management for instance. When you decided to give Stockpile a try (you have started using Stockpile, right?) you were focused on managing your inventory more efficiently.

Our free inventory software can help with customer attraction.

You probably weren’t thinking about how Stockpile, the world's best free inventory software for small business, could help you attract and retain your current customers, but it can. When you know where your inventory is at all times. When you can access that information, anytime from anywhere, you can provide superior customer service. That makes for some happy customers. When you aren’t bogged down with inventory issues you can focus on ways to attract new customers. You know what product you have too much of, and can create a promotion to move it. Every good technology decision you make will have a positive ripple effect on other aspects of your business. What are you waiting for? Start making waves today!
