All the Books You’ve Read Before

Book lovers rejoice! This post is for you. Previously, we have talked about how you can use Stockpile to track the books in your home library and manage your virtual bookshelf. Today we have some new tips on how you can use Stockpile quick home inventory system to improve your reading.

If you are an avid reader you're probably a frequent visitor to your local library. It's the best way to feed your reading habit without breaking the bank. The only trouble is that it can be hard to remember what books you've already read. There's nothing worse than trekking to the library to replenish your reading supply only to get home and discover that you checked out several volumes you've already read. Sure, you can keep lists and rely on your memory, but how accurate is that really? Wouldn't it be nice to just pull out your phone and see what you've read and what's still on your "to read" list? Thanks to Stockpile you can do just that!

Getting started is quick and easy. If you're already using Stockpile quick home inventory system you already know how to begin, but for this post we're going to assume that you are a newbie. The first step is to create an account. Stockpile is free to use so all you have to do is sign up to get started. Because Stockpile is fully customizable you choose which fields to include in your item records. You can even create custom fields to meet your needs. Stockpile was designed for small businesses but it's very adaptable to at home uses. When it comes to tracking your reading material you have a couple of options. You can create multiple locations or you can create a location called "library" and then have different areas within that location such as "bookshelf", "e books", and "borrowed". Don't like our suggestions? The beauty of Stockpile is that you can call your areas or locations whatever you'd like.  For step by step instructions on how to set up locations and areas just click the links and we'll walk you through it.

The next step in the process is adding everything you've read. It may sound overwhelming, but don't panic. Adding item records is easy, especially if you don't go crazy including fields in each record. If you just want bare bones all you really need is the title and the author. Have the time and inclination to include more? Go for it. You can include a summary of the book, a photo of the cover, the edition that you read and more. It's really up to you.
